UPDATE: Jackson police report that the truck was located at Wilhites Truck Stop, just off Interstate 40. The trailer full of Nike tennis shoes remains missing. ORIGINAL STORY: Jackson police are investigating the theft of a semi-tractor and trailer full of merchandise. According to investigators, early Sunday morning, the 18-wheeler was taken from the BP gas station in the 2200 block of Hollywood Drive. The trailer was loaded with Nike tennis shoes with an estimated value over $100,000. The tractor was a white 2005 International Freightliner displaying commercial tag (TN)3HKF0XA8 registered to Green Trucking in Jackson. We have posted a photo that is representative of a white 2005 International Freightliner The trailer was a 2012 Wabash displaying (TN) U254075 which has J & J Express similar to the one posted. Captain Mike Holt said this theft appears to be a cargo theft. “Cargo theft is a lucrative criminal enterprise because of the volume of merchandise that is stolen that is almost untraceable once removed from the shipment. We see it on the increase nationally and have seen it increase in the past year locally.”
