The Jackson City Council approved the purchase of a downtown building, which will serve as an annex for the Jackson Police Department. Council members agreed to spend $225,000 to buy a building on East Main Street and spend an additional $250,000 on improvements. The purchase is estimated to save the city more than $500,000 in five years. A building on American Drive is currently being leased by the city to house certain units of the department. They, along with other units will eventually be housed at the Main Street location.
