The gymnasium of Jackson Christian School was transformed into a lab for aspiring scientists. More than 150 6th, 7th and 8th grade students participated in Thursday’s science exhibition. The 7th and 8th grade students created art projects that had to be at least 70 percent recyclable, while 6th grade students created video presentations on the weather and how it works. Teachers said the event helps encourage students to explore the various fields of science and its importance in day-to-day life. “We love for students to be able to apply what we are teaching in the classroom in a home setting,” said Tami Myers, a science teacher. “It’s a great chance for them to see that science works in their everyday life, not just something they learn at school, but also something they can apply all the time.” Thursday’s first place winner was 7th grader, Chris Coley.
