Traffic halted after Flock system identifies vehicle belonging to ‘person of interest’
UPDATE FROM THE JACKSON POLICE DEPARTMENT:
The Jackson Police Department (JPD) was assisting another agency in locating a suspect who was wanted for an outstanding warrant and a violation of an ankle monitor. The suspect’s vehicle was entered into our FLOCK surveillance system.
At approximately 2:40 P.M., the suspect’s vehicle was identified on a FLOCK camera in the 400 block of South Highland. The suspect then fled from the scene and intentionally ran a JPD officer off the road on I-40 resulting in the officer’s collision with a barrier.
The wanted individual was take into custody following a successful apprehension on the 45 Bypass south of Old Humboldt Road. No injuries of either were reported. This is an ongoing investigation.
JACKSON, Tenn. — Many experienced a traffic delay along the Highway 45 Bypass in north Jackson, where a heavy police presence was observed.
Around 3:30 p.m., when our crew arrived on scene, at least seven Jackson Police Department cruisers — including one that appeared to have a blown tire — were working the scene with at least four Madison County Sheriff vehicles helping block roads.
According to JPD, a vehicle “hit” in their Flock system belonging to a person of interest.
As of now, authorities have cleared the roadway for drivers.
In a video shared by a viewer, several officers could be seen escorting an individual away from a white pickup truck.
