James Chester Wilson
He was born in Jackson on June 15, 1951, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to his family, friends, and community.
James was married to the love of his life, Vicky Ayers Wilson, for 53 beautiful years. Together they built a home filled with joy, warmth, and countless treasured memories. A dedicated family man, James took great pride in being a husband, father, and “Papa” to his beloved grandchildren.
He was a passionate fan of NASCAR racing and Tennessee football, never missing a chance to cheer on his favorite teams. James had a deep love for animals and was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America, where he spent many years mentoring young people and encouraging leadership and character. Whether mowing his yard or spending time with his grandchildren, James found happiness in the simple pleasures of life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Marie Olivis Wilson, and his sister, Patricia Ann Smith.
James is survived by his loving wife, Vicky; his son, Michael Wilson (Kayla); his daughter, Jennifer Hale (David); his sister, Judy Marie Fry; and his cherished grandchildren: Addison, Izzy, Saban, Lilly, Abby, and Emersyn.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful caregivers at Northbrooke Post-Acute and Tennessee Quality Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
Visitation will be held at George A. Smith and Sons South Chapel on Friday, August 1, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. A committal service will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in Jackson, Tennessee.
James will be remembered for his kind heart, steady presence, and the enduring legacy of love and family he leaves behind.
