Meg Whitworth Welch
Born on May 3, 1941, in Rutherford, Tennessee, Meg’s journey through life was marked by determination, grace, and a vibrant spirit that touched everyone she met.
In the 1950s, Meg moved with her family to Chicago, where she later married and had her beloved daughter, Tamela. After her divorce, Meg pursued a career in beauty, attending cosmetology school and becoming not only a skilled beautician but also a color specialist representative for Roux Products. Her passion for the industry and her outgoing personality led her to a convention in Florida—an event that would change her life forever. It was there she met the love of her life, Don Welch. They married on May 25 in the early 1970s, beginning a partnership full of love, laughter, and ambition.
Together, Meg and Don owned and operated three successful beauty salons named Hair Directors. After years of hard work, they sold the business and relocated to Tampa, Florida, to enjoy a well-earned retirement. Following Don’s passing in 2015, Meg chose to return to Tennessee in 2017 to be near her family.
Meg was a woman of great style and even greater warmth. She was a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a devoted sister and aunt. Her love of family was evident in all she did, and her quick wit and nurturing spirit will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Tamela Page; her grandsons, Blake Page and Chase Page (Bethany); and her great-grandchildren, Jack Steven Page, James Olan Page, Jon William Page, and Josslain Margaret Page. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Hassell (J.B.); sister-in-law, Glenna Whitworth; and many dear nieces and nephews: Jay Hassell (Landia), Keith Hassell (Char), Lori Swift (Sandy), Jan Blackwood (David), Kim Price (Kevin), and Jeff Whitworth (Amy).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Nancy Whitworth.
Meg’s life will be celebrated in a private family service, in keeping with her wishes. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
