Davis convicted of second degree murder of honor student
HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. -After a weeklong trial in the Circuit Court of Haywood County, the jury found Kevion Davis Guilty of the Second Degree Murder of Christine Michael, a 16-year-old Honor student at Haywood County High School.
The jury also found Davis Guilty of Three Counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder, Three Counts of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Felony Reckless Endangerment, and Three Counts of Assault. Davis faces a maximum sentence of 74 years to Serve in the Tennessee Department of Correction and will be sentenced by the Honorable Clayburn Peeples on October 27, 2025.
On February 10, 2023, after attending the basketball game at Ripley High School, Davis intentionally pursued another vehicle with four teenagers, including Christine Michael, from Ripley to Brownsville, while he and his co-defendant, Bishop Owens, shot at them multiple times. Christine Michael died from a gunshot wound, and a 13-year old passenger was grazed by another shot. Owens will be tried separately on April 7, 2026.
