What’s New Wednesday: The Potted Plant

LEXINGTON, Tenn. — The Potted Plant opened in March in downtown Lexington.

Co-owned by a mother-daughter duo, Deena Duke and Kaeli Morris, the shop offers everything from common house plants to rare and exotic options.

“We offer plants for pretty much everybody,” Morris said. “We have a lot of people come in and say that they don’t have house plants, or they have a brown thumb, and we can usually find something that works for them.”

With several varieties of plants to choose from, Duke tells us that they have a range of prices to suit everyone’s needs, and even offer delivery services.

“We also deliver if you have special occasions — birthday, anniversary — or if you have lost a loved one and want to send something to the funeral home, we’ll deliver that also — in the city limits,” Duke said.

And if you have a particular plant in mind that isn’t offered in the shop, they’re even willing to try to find what you’re looking for.

When it comes to their inspiration for the business, Morris told us a little bit about why they decided to take on the venture.

“So mom has always had house plants, and pretty well stopped whenever me and my sister were born, and the opportunity became available ’cause this is their building, and we just decided: have something different in the town, something that nobody else has,” said Morris.

They tell us that so far, they have been very blessed with support from the community, and they’re looking forward to helping even more people.

“We’ve had several customers come in from all surrounding counties, and even in East Tennessee, and tell us that our location, with the variety we have, the size of the store that we have, and the prices, that it’s the best they’ve been in,” said Duke.

The Potted Plant is located at 21 South Main Street in Lexington. Hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday.
