TN State Veterans Cemetery earns 2nd consecutive award for excellence

PARKERS CROSSROADS, Tenn. –A local cemetery has once again earned national recognition.

The Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads has earned it’s second consecutive Operational Excellence Award.

This time around, the grounds crew and administration scored a 99 out of a possible 100.

It’s the highest score by any cemetery nationwide in quite some time.

A representative from the National Cemetery Association in Washington D.C. was in attendance to present the award.

This award brings the five state veteran cemeteries of Tennessee’s combined total to six operational excellence awards.

“I was very eager to come here to Tennessee. I’ve had a long relationship, although it’s only been about three years for me in Washington D.C., but the communications, the drive toward excellence is known within Tennessee’s State Veterans Cemetery Program,” said James Earp, director of Veterans Cemetery Grants Program.

The cemetery is located at 693 Wildersville Road, it’s about a two minute drive from Exit 108 on I-40.
