Circles of Hope Telethon spotlights child abuse prevention, donations remain open
JACKSON, Tenn. — A West Tennessee tradition returned to the Hub City.
The 42nd Annual Circles of Hope Telethon took place Sunday, August 17.
This year’s theme was “Protecting children to ensure brighter futures.”
Callers dialed in to donate and support the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
“It was a very eventful time. It was so fun,” said Molly Connor, Events/Marketing Coordinator, Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. “We got to hear from a lot of cool bands and soloists, and we got to see a bunch of big checks from the different counties and the events they had.”
It was really neat getting to see, you know, the behind the scenes and all of the different people it takes to go into this and all of the moving parts,” Connor added.
The telethon helps provide free, trauma-informed services like therapy, forensic interviews, advocacy, and prevention education.
“Last year, we hit a little over 1.5 million, and so, we wanted to do the same, and we did. But we’re still taking donations thanks to Tim Wehner,” Connor said.
Tim Wehner, The Wehner Darby Group, The Mann Family Foundation, UBS Financial Services, and Rainey, Kizer, Reviere, & Bell, LLC. are matching every donation made until 11:59 Monday night for up to $50,000.
“It’s going towards helping families and children, so, you know, children are always the victims in child abuse, however, the non-offending parent or family members also, you know, face hardships as well,” said Connor. “So, your money helps us just support them and support counseling services, and everything is free of charge, so they don’t have to worry about any of that as well.”
The Exchange Club shares its gratitude to the community for your help in fighting child abuse.
