Bond Set For Suspects Charged In Death of Obion County Man

UNION CITY, Tenn- The men accused in the death of David McBride, appeared in court for the first time on Tuesday. The family of McBride left the courtroom, looking defeated, that the bond set for the suspects’ may be too low, allowing them to soon be free. Derek Jones is charged with Reckless Homicide and Joseph Rogers with reckless endangerment, after McBride was killed when a fight broke out between several people at Hobbies 22 Club in Union City, Saturday night. Officials said McBride most likely died from a blow to the head. “When I heard the news I was in shock,” Earl Ransom, a friend of McBride, said. Jones’ bond was set for $30,000 and Rogers, who has the lesser charge, is set for $10,000. When the judge asked McBride’s family if they had any question after the arraignment, one of his brothers express his disappointment with the bond amounts. “I have to send out my deepest sympathies to David’s family, Ransom said. Both Jones and Rogers are scheduled to appear in court on January 9.
