Bolivar Students Mourns Third Death In Less Than A Month

BOLIVAR, Tenn- It was yet another sad day at Bolivar Central High School as students learned of the death of 17-year old baseball player, Justin West. “Our community is deeply saddened by the loss of another student,” Director of Schools, Warner Ross, said. West died Wednesday morning after an October crash put him in a coma. “Right now our students are grieving,” Ross said. It’s something many of them have done for the last month after losing three well-known high school athletes to car wrecks. A recent graduate and basketball player, Tre Polk, was killed in a car crash on October 21. Junior baseball player, Donald Hemker was killed a week later; and now West. Ross said it’s taking a lot of crisis counseling and help from the community to get through the losses. “We are so appreciative of the community we live in and the support we’ve gotten, not just from within our county, but other school districts as well. Now students who had written hopeful messages on their cars for the recovery of their classmate West, are left disappointed and grieving.
