Importance of caregivers highlighted amid national awareness month

JACKSON, Tenn. — November is National Family Caregiver Month, and this is such an important role that should never go unrecognized.

As medical guidance and treatment options continue to evolve, the important role of caregivers will never change.

They serve as trusted advocates who help loved ones navigate complex health systems.

Dr. Paul Mohabir talks with us about how truly important it is.

“We have to work together as a team,” Dr. Mohabir said. “It is not an isolation of therapies and medications. It is about understanding the patients and their caregivers and what helps them to move forward. I think that union, when we meet together when we meet in the clinics to discuss, it is how we move forward and plan to move forward in the future.”

We were also told that finding others who are in similar positions can be helpful. Sharing stories and giving tips goes a long way.
