New Selmer mayor, aldermen sworn in during monthly meeting
SELMER, Tenn. — Earlier Tuesday, Selmer held their monthly board of aldermen meeting and with it comes some changes.

Mayor-elect John Smith, Alderwomen Johnnie Kay Witt and Felisha Porter, and Alderman John Finlayson, were all officially sworn in.
Also at Tuesday night’s meeting, leaders presented a “40 Years of Service” plaque to city attorney Terry Abernathy. During the meeting, Abernathy announced his retirement.
Ross Mitchell was sworn in to be the new attorney for the City of Selmer.
Also at the meeting, a department head was officially removed for misuse of a department-issued credit card.
