Jackson Animal Care and Control gets a new space

JACKSON, Tenn.—A local animal shelter gets an upgrade.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at 1 p.m. Saturday for the Jackson Animal Care and Control located at 241 Conalco Drive.

The organization recently moved into a new building and has made some positive changes.

Changes include adding more space for a better layout. The facility can now separate cats and dogs into different areas.

The space also allows for housing its incoming animals that may be awaiting medical care or vaccinations, away from its established animals.

The new building was much needed to better care for the health of felines and canines within the community.

“This facility unlike the last one has very segregated areas. So our new intakes are housed completely separate than the animals that have been here and already have all of their vetting done. We even have separate HVAC systems so that the same air is not circulating through the facility,” said Whitney Owen, Animal Services Director, City of Jackson.

Jackson Animal Care and Control is always looking to find homes for its adoptable animals.

Right now the facility has several dogs as well as cats available. Anyone interested can come by or fill out an application online.

Donations are always welcomed and appreciated to help care for the animals.
