Mary Whitehead Lewis, age 90, of Brownsville, TN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at the Sugar Creek Senior Living Community in Brownsville, TN.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Horton officiating.  Burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Brownsville, TN.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM, at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.

Mary was born on December 29, 1934, in Gates, TN.  She graduated Ripley High School in 1954, where she excelled in her education as a member of the Beta Club and the National Honor Society.

Mary was a faithful member of the Westside Church of Christ.  She was employed by South Central Bell, Wal-Mart and the States Graphic.  She enjoyed serving as a weekly contributor to the States Graphic with a column titled Westside News.  She found joy in playing cards, sending greeting cards to others and supporting missionary work.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Hazel Brown; her husbands, Henry Whitehead, Jr.  and Paul Lewis; and her half-brother, William B. Miller.  She is survived by her sisters in law, Peggy Lewis and Hope Cannon; her step grandson, Shawn Michael Lewis and her church family at Westside Church of Christ.

Mary was thankful for her special friends, Jennie Evans, Billy and Bobbie Connally, Shirley Emison, Pam Stewart, Emily Miller, Zach Fox and Morris and Beth Blatt.  She held dear the memories of her late friends, Nelle and Jack Fox and Jack Brummett.

The family has requested memorials be made to the Westside Church of Christ, 3235 Hwy. 54 W., Brownsville, TN  38012.  All services and arrangements are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
