Community rallies to show appreciation for firefighters

DYER, Tenn. – As the snow and ice hit, the calls steadily continued for the Dyer Fire Department. The department said the community served them while they worked to serve the community.

“The ice and snow didn’t stop us. As our fire trucks got stuck in the snow, the community came together to help us get to the next call,” said Jessica Rudd, Dyer Fire Department.

The department continued to clean driveways, battle structure fires, and respond to medical calls.

“Dyer, TN has a community that comes together when we need it most,” wrote Jessica Rudd.

Multiple businesses and individuals from the community responded to help the fire department by making sure they received warm meals.

Chief Brandon Rudd said, “I would like to take a moment to thank the men and women who make up the Dyer Fire Department. Over the last few days, our team has put in countless hours serving our community—from responding to serious calls to simply clearing a driveway for someone in need.

They gave their all, even after working their full-time jobs, and I sincerely appreciate each and every one of you.

A special thank you to the City of Dyer Street and Police Department, Mayor Chris Younger, and Vice Mayor Marty Graves, who were out there alongside us.

We also worked closely with several agencies, all with one common goal: helping our community. Thank you to all the agencies and personnel who worked around the clock in less-than-ideal conditions.

Here’s a glimpse of the last few days. As you can see, even through the hard work, they managed to have a little fun as well.

Thanks again for everything you do.”
