Search continues for missing Benton County elderly woman
BENTON COUNTY, Tenn. – The search for a missing elderly Benton County woman continues as authorities continue using K-9s and search lakes.
Alma Fowler, 76, has not been seen since Wednesday, February 11 in the afternoon. She was reported missing at around 5 p.m. She was last seen at Herrington Place in Camden, the assisted living facility where she was a resident. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) issued a Silver Alert for Fowler on February 12. Multiple agencies have joined Benton County officials in the search for Fowler.
Benton County Sheriff Kenny Christopher said they have swept the area around the assisted living facility with search crews, K-9s, helicopters and drones. Authorities began searching Blackburn Lake on Friday. They are asking the public to please remain away from the search area.
“We’ve had drones, we’ve had the THP helicopters, we have had side by sides, we’ve had our bloodhounds out, we’ve used every resource we have and we have had no luck,” Christopher said.
Christopher said authorities have spoken to workers and contractors at Herrington Place regarding Fowler and any information they can obtain about the last time she was seen. They are also speaking with community members and residents near the assisted living facility regarding anything they might have seen.
The sheriff said authorities have searched 550 acres around Herrington Place by foot and have not had anything to turn up in the search.
Authorities are also checking areas in Kentucky.
Christopher said the search continues and they will continue searching until they find Fowler.
Fowler is 4 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 110 pounds and was last seen wearing a green sweater and brown pants. She is of Filipino descent. She is non-verbal and may not be able to respond with anything other than “yes” or “no.” Due to being off her medications for an extended period, she may also be experiencing hallucinations.
Anyone with information about Fowler should contact the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at 731-584-4632. If you see her, call 9-1-1.
