Body found in crawl space during missing person investigation in north Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn. — A body was discovered in the crawl space of a north Jackson residence over the weekend during a missing person investigation, according to the Jackson Police Department.

Mirna Ortez Moncada, 31, was reported missing February 16 after family members contacted the Jackson Police Department. The department’s Special Victims Unit began actively investigating the report.

Officers responded Saturday after being contacted by Moncada’s family. The investigation led authorities to a residence on Raintree Cove in north Jackson, which belongs to an acquaintance of Moncada.
During the search, a body was found in a crawl space beneath the residence.
Family members have tentatively identified the body as Moncada, though official confirmation is still pending. The remains have been transported to Nashville for a forensic autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The Jackson Police Department has launched an investigation and is treating the case as a suspected homicide.
