Massey proclaims March 16 at ‘Kayla Beaver Day’

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. – Madison County Mayor AJ Massey honored a Southside High School graduate during the March County Commission meeting on Monday.

Massey posted on his social media that he proclaimed Marcy 16 at ‘Kayla Beaver Day’, “Today at our monthly Madison County Legislative Body meeting I had the distinct privilege of recognizing Southside High School graduate, Kayla Beaver, on her tremendous accomplishments on and off the softball field. Her proclamation text is below:

WHEREAS, Kayla Beaver, a graduate of South Side High School in Madison County, Tennessee, distinguished herself as one of the most accomplished softball pitchers in school history, leading the Lady Hawks to their first-ever State Tournament appearance while earning Class AA All-State, All-Region, and All-West Tennessee Softball Player of the Year honors ; and

WHEREAS, she was a three-time TSSAA Scholar Athlete and received numerous additional honors, including All-West Tennessee, All-District, and recognition as the Jackson Sun Outstanding Pitcher ; and

WHEREAS, during her collegiate career at the University of Central Arkansas, Kayla compiled a 74-22 record with a school-record 1.96 ERA and 514 strikeouts, earning First Team All-Southland Conference honors and unanimous First Team All-Atlantic Sun recognition while helping lead her team to a conference tournament championship ; and

WHEREAS, as a graduate student at the University of Alabama, Kayla earned All-Conference and NFCA All-American honors, helped lead the Crimson Tide to the Women’s College World Series, and was twice recognized as a USA Softball Player of the Year Finalist ; and

WHEREAS, she concluded her collegiate career with a 93-32 record, a 1.56 career ERA, 699 strikeouts, and later signed with Athletes Unlimited Professional Softball in 2024 ; and

WHEREAS, Kayla Beaver’s dedication and athletic excellence have brought pride and recognition to Madison County and serve as an inspiration to young athletes throughout our community;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, AJ Massey, Mayor of Madison County, Tennessee, do hereby proclaim March 16, 2026, as

“Kayla Beaver Day”
