Groundbreaking ceremony held for new government center in Henry County

PARIS, Tenn. — Friday, Henry county leaders broke ground on a new government services facility in Paris.

A ceremony was held at 1115 Tyson avenue. Leaders say the more than 20,000 square ft. Henry County government services facility is designed to improve efficiency and public access by bringing several key offices under one roof.

Right now, those departments are split between the historic Henry County Courthouse and the courthouse annex. Officials say centralizing services should make it easier for residents to handle multiple tasks in a single stop.

“It will host the clerk, the assessor, the register of deeds and the trustee. Along with the mayor’s office, and we’ll have an area there for the commission to meet,” said Henry County Mayor Randy Geiger.

Mayor Geiger says it’s expected to take a little more than a year to complete the project, if everything goes according to schedule.
