DYERSBURG, Tenn- Dyersburg Police are warning local businesses that ’tis this season for counterfeit money. In Dyersburg, at least fourteen cases of counterfeit money have been reported in the last three weeks; and as Christmas shoppers come out in large numbers, police said businesses should be on the lookout for fake money, more than ever. “It is definitely more damaging to a small business because the bottom line is lower,” Rod Langston, an employee said. That’s why employees at The Working Man in Dyersburg said they’re double-checking all twenty and one-hundred dollar bills, the two denominations police said have been passed off as real money in the last few weeks. “It’s just best to always double-check,” Rod Langston said. Dyersburg Police are updating their Facebook page with tips for local businesses on how to spot and report counterfeit money. Employees at The Working Man said so far they haven’t been hit with the fake bills, but they’re doing all they can do to make sure it doesn’t happen in the midst of a busy Christmas shopping weekend.
