LEAPWOOD, Tenn. – A family feud ends with one man shot and both the victim and his uncle behind bars. “If I go on the fact that he’s always just shot over somebody’s head instead of at them, I could be dead right now,” shooting victim Byron Robertson said. Robertson said his uncle, Lloyd Davis, shot him in the back Tuesday. He said it was just the latest of many disagreements that began months ago with an argument about cigarettes. “We’ve had several calls to these two residences in the past,” Investigator JP Kellum with the McNairy County Sheriff’s Department said. “Both subjects are related and they’re over arguments and property lines.” Robertson said Davis killed his cat in the past. So when his dog went missing, he confronted his uncle who lives next door. Robertson said that is when Davis did something he didn’t expect. “Next thing I know, he’s picking up a shotgun from out behind the fence. He didn’t just go to get the phone, he went to get the shotgun,” Robertson said. “I turned to go run to get my gun, and I got shot.” Deputies arrested both men. Robertson was charged with possession of an illegal firearm for a sawed-off shotgun in his home. Davis, who remains behind bars, was charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. Investigators said this case could have been much worse. “If he’d got shot in the back of the head or got shot in this vital areas of his heart or lungs, there’s no telling what could’ve happened to him,” Investigator Kellum said. “It could’ve been a whole lot different situation and different case.” Robertson said now he is fearful of what Davis might do once he gets out of jail. “If he’s going to shoot somebody once, he’ll shoot somebody again,” Robertson said.
