Neighbors reflect on recent fatal shooting in Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn. — Residents on Fairway Boulevard in north Jackson reflected on a Friday morning fatal shooting.
Jackson police say they responded to the neighborhood of Fairway Boulevard around 10:30 Friday morning after reports of a shooting.
According to Jackson Police Chief Julian Wiser, one person was killed in the shooting and another person was injured.
Residents say they are shocked by the sudden violence.
“This is normally a very quiet neighborhood. We’ve never really had any problems like that, but yeah I’m very surprised by the shooting,” said resident Keith Gwen.
Those who live in the subdivision were not allowed in or out while police investigated the shooting.
Police say none of the individuals involved in the shooting are from the neighborhood where the shooting happened.
“I’m just glad that a lot of people weren’t at home, and if something like that happened in the middle of the day or like right now, if it had happened now, my son’s here with me. It could have been devastating,” Gwen said.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the suspect or the victims.
Authorities say the injured victim was taken to the hospital.
A motive for the shooting has not yet been released.
