Snow Tapers Off Overnight

Weather Update – 11:00 p.m. – Thursday, February 6th

Snow has been falling across West Tennessee for most of the evening but over the next couple of hours those snow showers will be tapering off. This was one of the first accumulating snowfalls in West Tennessee of Winter so far! However, I don’t want you to get your hopes up just yet as to how much will end up being on the ground Friday morning. Only one school district has called WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News to inform us of a closure due to weather – Benton County Schools will be closed Friday, February 7th.

TONIGHT
Temperatures continue to slowly fall toward the 20s but soil temps are in the upper 30s so roads are just wet tonight and not icy! Bridges and overpasses may ice up now that air temperatures are below freezing so be especially cautious on those early Friday if you have a morning commute tomorrow. Temperatures will drop to the middle and upper 20s by sunrise. Accumulations will be less than an inch on grassy and elevated surfaces in the morning.

It’s going to be another cold day on Friday with highs in the lower 40s but after clouds in the morning, we’ll see sunshine in the afternoon. Winds will make it feel like the lower 20s at 7 a.m. and only the upper 30s at the warmest point of the day! We’ll be getting warmer this weekend but rain returns next week so stay with WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News for the latest forecast and keep up with Storm Team Weather online too for more updates.
