DOWNTOWN JACKSON — The man police are charging with attempted first-degree murder after a weekend knife attack was arraigned Monday morning in Jackson City Court. Eddie Pittman, 56, was arraigned at 8 a.m. Monday on charges of attempted first-degree murder for the Friday morning knife attack on Simms Street and for a January shoplifting at Sears. Investigators later learned that Pittman acted alone when he forced his way into the victim’s bedroom on the 300 block of Simms Street. Pittman then attacked the victim with a knife causing serious injuries. The victim was able to get away and walk a short distance to the Wilkinson Street house for help. Pittman remains in custody at the Madison County Jail. Pittman’s bond was set at $200,000, and his next scheduled court date is 1:30 p.m. on March 20 in Jackson City Court.
