Thousands Attend World’s Biggest Fish Fry Parade

HENRY COUNTY, Tenn. — Thousands lined the street in Henry County on Friday to attend the World’s Biggest Fish Fry annual parade. “It’s just a great time to come together on this spring day and also enjoy some of the best catfish in the world,” Paris Mayor Sam Tharpe said while watching the parade. Parade goers were able to see anything from horses, pageant contestants, bands and even Governor Bill Haslam. WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News even caught up with one man in the crowd who traveled all the way from California just for the fish fry festivities. “Every year!” Tely Robbins said. “I have family in the area but I come this time of year just for the fish fry!” Organizers say the World’s Biggest Fish Fry is a staple of the Henry County community, and this year they have had record numbers at some events, like the hush puppy toss. “I believe we were up 100 people from last year,” Mayor Tharpe said. “This is exciting to hear!” After the parade, the fish fry continued with a carnival and rodeo. Mayor Tharpe said organizers will start planning next year’s fish fry as early as next week.
