MADISON COUNTY, Tenn.– Downed trees, damaged homes, and several blocked streets remain after thunderstorms tore through Jackson on Saturday. “This is crazy,” Jackson resident Jodie Mathis said. “I’m used to roads flooding, but not the trees coming down like that there.” This was the reaction of many across Madison County, after the a string of severe thunderstorms swept through the area. A tree on Missouri Street in Jackson took down power lines and narrowly missed a house. “We had this house wires were sparking and that house wires were sparking” Teresa Reid who lives on Missouri Street said. “Next thing we knew trees were flying and I told my husband, I said hit the deck!” High winds also toppled a tree on Chester Levee Road in Jackson, sending it right into a house. Homeowner Andrea Steed says it was a scary scene. “It got wild and crazy,” Steed said. “Then I heard this big pop and me and the dog ran!” Luckily this tree didn’t break through the roof or cause any severe damage to the home, but there will be a mess to clean up Sunday. Storms tore through not only Jackson, but also the rest of West Tennessee. Right now there are no reports of any injuries.
