Police investigate Thursday night shooting on East End Street

EAST JACKSON — Jackson police are investigating a Thursday night shooting that seriously injured three people and left a fourth person with a minor injury. Around 11 p.m., officers responded to a shooting on East End Street. As police were responding, officers passed a car speeding away from the scene. Officers later learned that the car was driven by a 20-year-old man. When police arrived, they learned that the home at 101 East End had been shot into numerous times. Two gunshot victims, a 21-year-old woman and her 4-month-old son, were found inside the house. The mother and infant were transported by ambulance to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. The infant was later transferred to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and his mother was taken to Regional Medical Center. A 19-year-old man who was also inside the house during the shooting suffered a minor injury. He was treated and released from the hospital at 3:15 a.m. The 20-year-old man who had driven the car away from the scene drove to East Baltimore Street. Investigators learned that he had also been shot inside the house. He was transported by ambulance from East Baltimore to Jackson General Hospital. The mother and infant were both transferred to Memphis hospitals. The woman remains in critical condition at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis, and the infant is in stable condition at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis. The 20-year-old man remains in stable condition at Jackson General Hospital. Investigators are pursuing leads and attempting to identify suspects and a motive.
