MADISON COUNTY, Tenn.- Summertime may mean boating time. But before you prep for the holiday, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is issuing an important reminder. The agency urges you to check your navigation lights so that other boaters will see you at night. Remember boating is just like driving a car and you should not consume alcohol when behind the wheel. The TWRA also said if it is your boat, you are responsible for everyone’s safety on-board. “Everybody in the boat must have a life jacket and it must be a jacket that fits properly. Adult jackets don’t count for kids and kids don’t count for adults. Everybody under the age of 13 must have a jacket when the boat’s underway,” said Major Brian Thompson with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. The TWRA also recommends boaters keep their certificate with them at all times and check your fuel hoses for leaks.
