Duo accused of stealing a TV from Walmart appear in court

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Two people accused of stealing a big screen TV from a local Walmart and leading police on a chase appeared in court Thursday afternoon. Both Pautez Freeman and Rosalind Hayes had their cases bound over to the Grand Jury to be heard on Oct. 6. Freeman and Hayes are charged with felony theft after the two allegedly stole a television from the Walmart on South Highland on June 23. After employees called police, police say Freeman and Hayes led officers on a car chase. Officers caught up with them along Highway 18 and chased them to the intersection of Denmark-Jackson Road and Smith Lane. No one was hurt. Freeman was charged with resisting arrest, theft of property over $500, and Felony evading arrest. His bond was reduced from $50,000 to $25,000. Hays is being charged with theft of property over $500 and is still being held on bond of $25,000. Both Freeman and Hayes are still being held on bond at the Criminal Justice Complex.
