Investigators: stolen truck used to ram into convenience store

CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — Investigators are seeking help from the public to catch two people that may be connected to a burglary in Maury City. On Wednesday around 3 a.m, police say the Circle T Quick Stop in Maury City was burglarized. The front doors of the business were knocked out of place, leaving glass all over the store and parking lot. The owner says the damage totals more than $5,000. He says the burglars stole money, cigarettes and beer. The business is closed until further notice. “There’s a high value of damage throughout the building. It knocked things clear across the building,” Jordan Spraggins said, a Crockett County investigator. Regular customers, like Tabatha Sprouse, are upset by the damage to the Stop and Go, also known as “Circle T,” off Highway 88. “It’s something you would see on TV, like on Comedy Central. Like, just go right through a store, like, seriously?,” Sprouse said. There was also a 1992 Blue Chevrolet pick up — tag number E4673Y — stolen from a residence in the area. The car had several firearms in it. Spraggins says they believe the two crimes are connected. “After looking around and finding evidence, we were able to find it’s likely the suspects also stole a vehicle here in Crockett County and the two were connected,” Spraggins said. Investigators are now trying to find two persons of interest. They say they believe Ashley Johnson and Robert Brown may know about these crimes and detectives would like to speak with them. “We believe they’re from the Gibson county area and have ties to the Lake county area. Both sheriff’s departments are working well with us in order to find our suspects,” Spraggins said. Any sightings or information regarding this case can be reported to the Crockett County Sheriff‘s Office at (731) 696-2104.
