Local city court judge presented “Butterfly Award”

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A local judge was honored in Jackson City Court Thursday for helping victims of domestic and sexual violence. On Thursday, WRAP, or the Women and Men’s Resource and Rape Assistance program, gave Judge Blake Anderson the Butterfly Award. The award is given to citizens in West Tennessee that give support to victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Executive director of WRAP says Judge Anderson established a domestic violence docket. “Because this court provides us with a safe place to talk to survivors, survivors then feel more willing to reach out to us and follow through with services,” Daryl Chansuthus said, Executive Director of WRAP. WRAP says they started giving the award last year.
