Police: Son wanted in connection to father’s homicide

WEST JACKSON — Jackson police are searching for a man after his father was found dead in his home on Saturday morning. Jefferey Nelson, 57, was found dead inside the home at 809 Westwood Ave. after family members called police asking them to check on him. Investigators, dressed in masks and white protective suits, carried his body out of the home just before 12:30 p.m. Police have not released how Nelson was killed. “A family member had called and told us we needed to check on the person that lived here. Once we arrived, the door was ajar,” said Captain Tyreece Miller. Police say the victim’s son, Clayton Jeffery Nelson, 29, is a person of interest at this time. Nelson is described as being 7 feet, 2 inches, a white male with brown hair and blue eyes. He could be in Middle Tennessee, possibly Williamson or Cheatham County. Police say the victim’s car, a 2001 black Infinity – tag number QX4 SUV – is also missing. Nelson lived in the home with his father, according to police. “We don’t know if the person of interest is inside the truck, but we’re looking for both of them. He could possibly be inside,” said Capt. Miller. The Jackson Police Department tells us this is the 8th criminal homicide this year. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 731-424-TIPS
