LAUREL, Miss. (AP) – Justin Blakeney has been sentenced to death after being convicted of capital murder in the 2010 death of a 2-year-old girl.

Blakeney was charged with the death of Victoria Viner, the daughter of his then live-in girlfriend.
On Aug. 10, 2010, Blakeney was babysitting the child when she required medical attention. The child was taken University Medical Center in Jackson where she died two days later. According to the autopsy report, the state crime lab cited the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head.
