City of Jackson announces Youth Council members

JACKSON, Tenn. — The City of Jackson has announced a list of students who will serve on Jackson’s Youth Council.

Students from local high schools are asked to advise Mayor Scott Conger and the Jackson City Council on how to improve the community for younger generations, according to a news release.

The following students were selected:

  • Jamarrea Anderson from North Side High School
  • Blair Driver from University School of Jackson
  • Sanaii Davis from South Side High School
  • Trip Richard Day from Jackson Christian
  • Emma Eddleman from Augustine School
  • Blessy Garcia from Jackson Central-Merry Early College High
  • Amaris Newby from Liberty Technology Magnet High School
  • Georgia Nicholson from Trinity Christian Academy
  • Colin Richardson from Madison Academic Magnet High School
  • Allison Thompson from Sacred Heart of Jesus High School

Members will be sworn in during a private ceremony with Mayor Scott Conger, city council members, and their families on Feb. 25, according to the release.

Students will learn about city policies and how the city government operates, the release says. They will also have the opportunity to participate in current city initiatives and develop leadership skills.

Students will meet once a month until the next youth council is selected in spring 2022.
