DOWNTOWN JACKSON — It was a beautiful day in downtown Jackson as dozens took to the court square with a book in hand. Saturday was the Jackson-Madison County Public Library’s first ever reading “flash mob.” From young children to seniors, people brought out chairs, blankets and of course a few good books while enjoying the good weather. Organizers say no matter what you’re reading, this event was all about improving literacy. “We’re reading books, we’re reading kindles, magazines, newspapers, all different things,” Director of the Jackson-Madison County Library Dinah Harris said. “It’s just to express the importance of literacy and reading no matter where you’re doing or what you’re reading.” Organizers say they hope to continue to hold this event throughout the summer. If you want to pick up a book for yourself, the library has two locations in Jackson that are open Monday through Saturday.
