JACKSON, Tenn. — With Monday being one of the hottest days of the summer so far, team officials had to find creative, replenishing ways to keep Jackson’s bravest sports fans cool inside the Ballpark at Jackson. Cooling, wet clothes were mandatory for fans still eager to enjoy Monday’s game, where heat index temperatures reached upward of 100 degrees. Officials with the team even used their position higher in the stands to spray down fans reaching for relief. “As long as they’re playing, they’re not going to think about ‘I’m sweating so much’ or ‘I feel a little faint,’ so we’re making sure that every few minutes we’re going to get something to re-hydrate a little bit,” said Giovonnte Baker, assistant camp director with St. Paul CME Church. Weather officials say the heat advisory is supposed to expire Tuesday but could go on longer.
