Beard Makes Appearance on Sex Charges

A Whiteville man indicted on 123 charges in connection with the sexual abuse of a young child was in court, Friday morning. Elfrin Beard, 35, is facing charges on 41 counts each of rape, incest and sexual battery by an authority figure. The 15-year-old victim told investigators that the abuse happened between May and December of last year. Beard is being held at the Chester County jail on a $50,000 bond.
