Narcotics Officers Search Convenience Stores
Metro Narcotics officers raided local convenience stores in Jackson and Madison County, Wednesday and seized almost 1,400 packages of synthetic drugs. According to authorities, search warrants were served at five area convenience stores and gas stations. They were Superway at 795 Airways Blvd., Superway at 1435 Riverside Drive, Superway at 151 Law Road, BP at 154 Law Road and BP at 2655 North Highland Ave. In all, Metro Narcotics seized 1,029 package of synthetic cannabinoids, some of which contain actual marijuana; 361 packages of synthetic methcathinones; 24 Viagra pills of foreign origin and 1,330 items of drug paraphernalia. The local prices of the synthetic drugs and paraphernalia vary, but are estimated at more than $41,000. Currency and coins totaling $50,204.71, which is believed to be proceeds of synthetic drug sales, was seized. Drug agents said for several of the businesses this is the second time warrants have been served on the locations in the past three months. Two of the owners were cited. They are Tej Singh, owner of the BP on North Highland Ave., and Eddie Elsebae, owner of the Superway on Airways Blvd. Officers said the remaining three will be as soon as they find them.
