Regional Hospital Opens New Unit
A north Jackson hospital has opened a new cardiac unit to better serve its patients. Officials of Regional Hospital said the new cardiac short-stay unit consists of seven beds on the second floor of the hospital. Medical personnel said the unit is designed to accommodate cardiac outpatients with focused care designed to enhance efficient testing and evaluation of chest pain and other cardiac related conditions. Centralized and consolidated care will also focus on cardiac patients. “They come in get a decision made very quickly, get their treatment quickly and get home quickly, versus come, stay a day. check this lab work. another day check a little bit more and elongate their time inside the hospital,” said Jan Zimmer, Chief Nursing Officer for Regional Hospital. Hospital administrators said rapid diagnosis will lead to decreased anxiety for patients waiting for test results and procedures used in treatment.
