ConAgra Foods in Humboldt literally gave away a ton of food, Monday. To kick off its Employee Week of Service, the food maker is donating products to the Humboldt Backpack Program which helps feed children on the weekends when they are not at school and meals are not provided. A second trailer of food was donated to the Humboldt Senior Center’s Food Bank. The food given away was made up of equal parts of food donations by workers and food provided by ConAgra. “We’re fortunate, you know, everybody who works here has a job, has food on the table. So, we just want to give back to the community any way we can,” said Dennis Tims, plant manager for ConAgra Foods in Humboldt. “You know that you’re helping on a local level, you’re really making an impact in the local community, you can give to bigger organization, and that’s great. But being able to give right back hire in Humboldt, knowing that the food that we give goes right here to the people of Humboldt, our friends and neighbors.” This is the second annual Week of Service by ConAgra. The company said it hopes to exceed the 3,000 hours employees volunteered company-wide last year.
