Committee Discusses Non-Profit Funding
Jackson City Council members who make up a committee looking at non-profit funding made some cuts to all of those organizations that receive funding, Thursday. During their second meeting Thursday, the Non-profit Review Committee voted to cut all agencies funded by 10 percent for the next year. The cuts freed $30,000 which will be used to fund three new agencies, which will be discussed in April. The three could be determined in April. “I think we’ve set a precedent here, as if relates to non-profit funding,” said Jackson City councilman Ernest Brooks. “We’ve created a transparent and more open process.” The chairman of the committee said they want to make sure the groups are using their funds efficiently and in a way that benefits the city.
