Kids Get a Chance to Touch a Truck
Summer campers from across Jackson got to take a special field trip for a one-of-a-kind hands-on experience, Wednesday. The annual summer event called “Touch a Truck” allows children to not only get a first hand look at big rigs and special equipment like fire trucks, helicopters and bucket trucks, they get a chance to get inside the vehicles. Children from 20 different camp took part in the event sponsored by the Jackson Parks and Recreation Department. “They are so excited,” said Debra Williamson-Easley with the department. “Just to know they can get in there and actually touch it is something that excites their minds.” Between 1,500 and 2,000 campers took part in the free event.
