West Carroll Junior/Senior High School has never seen a football game like this before.

On Saturday, the area's best middle school football players will compete in Atwood.

Both players and coaches jumped at the opportunity. "I've been a part of some first before, so when I got an opportunity to this, I definitely wanted to take it," South all-star head coach Jason White said. "We been having to scale it back a little bit to keep from them getting hurt. It's been so competitive." "In school, I jumped up and I ran down the hall shouting," Waverly's Octavian Stewart said after hearing the big news. Stewart and dozens of eight graders learned in late October that they were playing in the inaugural West Tennessee Middle School All-Star Football Game. "It's an honor to be a part of this team," Huntingdon's Daquon Robinson said. "My coach didn't have to nominate me, but he did and I'm blessed." Robinson has been practicing for two weeks with his new teammates, but the South all-stars chemistry wasn't perfect at first. "I don't know about these people," lineman Mason Chandler said. "But once I got to know them, it was alright." Nearly 35 different Middle Schools will be represented in the first ever game. "Been a great experience. Class act kids. Great athletes," White said. "Like we told them for two weeks, some of the best athletes in West Tennessee." "You know South coming to win, Robinson smiled. "We taking that victory home." Saturday's game kicks off at 3 p.m. Admission is $5.
