Escapee Search Continues

The search for two prison escapees from Louisiana continued Wednesday in West Tennessee. Darian “Drake” Pierce, 33, and Ricky Wedgeworth, 36, escaped Monday. Louisiana officials report the two men were last seen on prison grounds in Baton Rouge, Monday around 2:00 p.m. They are believed to have gotten away in a stolen prison van. That vehicle was recovered a short time longer on U.S. 61 just south of St. Francisville, LA. Multiple agencies searched areas around Interstate 40 in northeast Madison County throughout the day. Around noon, a report of two suspicious persons walking in the area of Riverside Drive and Boone Lane moved the search to the southern part of Madison County. Authorities searched areas near there for more than two hours. Searches continued throughout the West Tennessee area during the afternoon. Police set up road blocks and also did house to house searches in the Christmasville Road area through the day. Pierce and Wedgeworth are still believed to be in the West Tennessee area. Vicksburg Mississippi police confirmed Wednesday afternoon the automobile that was stopped Tuesday night by THP on Interstate 40 was rented by David Cupps of Ohio. The family of David Cupps, who was on a work related trip, reported him missing Tuesday. Tennessee officials said there was blood in the vehicle that was recovered in Jackson on Tuesday. According to the Louisiana State Police, Pierce is serving time for attempted second degree murder while Wedgeworth is serving time for armed robbery.
