The exit 101 Travel Plaza is on its way to reopening after being destroyed by a fire four months ago. Employees of the gas station/convenience store say they haven’t wasted any time rebuilding since the November fire as they promised the community. Before the devastating blaze hundreds of regular customers and travelers passed through on a daily basis. Workers plan on offering the basics in the next few weeks including gas, cigarettes, beer, snacks, and lottery tickets. “When it burned it was not only devastating to our community in the fact that a lot of the locals depended on that particular business for their shopping needs, it impacted our revenues here in the county,” said Vicki Bunch of the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce. Owners at the Travel Plaza plan on opening their temporary store and gas services within the next month.
