Madison County Considers Retirement Options

t Monday’s Madison County Commission Meeting, Sheriff Woolfork voiced his concerns about a new retirement plan for county workers. The Deputies Sheriff association proposed the county’s retirement plan to switch to a private company. This would mean the county wouldn’t provide full retirement support to it’s employees any longer and deputies could even opt out of the plan all together if they choose. The positive side is new employees could be offered larger starting salaries and, in the end, actually save the county money. “We’re just trying to look out for the interest of the Madison County Sheriff’s office in years to come,” said Sheriff Woolfork.
