Member of the Madison County Election Commission are preparing for the upcoming city elections. Commissioners met Friday morning appointing various election officials to work in the city. Election Day is just over a month away on May 3. The commission also took up the issue of a from to be used in the event a voter has erroneously marked a voter registration application in such a way that it is consequently rejected. The commissioners also approved an operating budget for the 2011-2012 fiscal year, which begins July 1. “You could interpret the law as saying that they had to appear in person at an election commission meeting,” said Kim Buckley, administrator for the Madison County Election Commission. “That’s just not a voter-friendly thing to do.” The last day to register to vote for city elections is April 4. Early voting is April 13-21 and from April 25-28. For more information, contact the Election Office on North Parkway at (731) 660-1796.
