AAA Projects Travelers to Stay Close to Home Memorial Day Weekend
Although new reports by AAA show an increase in Memorial Day weekend travel, experts do not think those travelers will be going too far. 34.8 million Americans are expected to be on the road this upcoming holiday weekend. An increase of just 1.2 percent from last year. AAA officials explain that many Americans faced an unexpected challenge this year as gas prices broke record highs and squeezed many household budgets. Authorities believe those who do plan to travel will stay closer to home. This has many Jackson residents agreeing. “Money, got to watch our spending, we have bills to pay so we’re going to be staying close,” said Scott Crow. The Memorial Day holiday travel period begins Thursday, May 24 and continues through Monday, May 28.
